Job Description
Role Overview
The Commercial Director (CD) will be responsible for developing and executing Bristol City Women’s revenue-generation strategy across all business and commercial functions. This is a senior leadership role, directly reporting to the CEO, with a mandate to maximize commercial growth, strengthen brand equity, and unlock new revenue streams. The CD will oversee sponsorships, partnerships, ticketing, and local retail, ensuring alignment with Mercury13 and the Club’s long-term vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Revenue Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive revenue growth plan across all commercial verticals specifically; sponsorship, partnerships, ticketing and hospitality, local retail and national media rights
- Lead all business development activities with a sharp focus on driving local (UK) sponsorship revenue
- Drive innovation in fan engagement and digital monetization in line with M13 Group strategy and infrastructure
- Commercial Partnerships
- Identify, negotiate, and secure new commercial partners at local and national levels, working closely with M13 CRO on international partnerships
- Manage and grow existing partner relationships, ensuring value delivery and renewals
- Collaborate with M13 to align strategy with broader objectives, processes and infrastructure across portfolio
- Revenue Operations & Management
- Establish clear revenue targets and performance KPIs
- Build and lead commercial team pushing high performance and standards that transform BCWFC into a League defining club
- Work closely with finance and operations to ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting
- Leadership
- Manage high performing team of individuals responsible for revenue growthEstablish strong relationships with peers, leaders, and colleagues across the ecosystem including WSL, Bristol Sports entities – Flyers, Ashton Gate, Bristol City Men’s Football and Bristol Bears and existing partners
- Coordinate efforts in line with CEO and M13 vision
What You Bring
- Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record in mid to senior revenue-generating roles within professional sports
- Strong background in sponsorship sales or partnership management
- Deep understanding of the football/sports ecosystem, preferably in the UK
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
