Wasserman Acquires Unik Sports Management to Expand Global Women’s Football Platform
Wasserman has strengthened its position in women’s football by acquiring Barcelona-based agency Unik Sports Management, continuing its international expansion in the rapidly growing sector.

As part of the transaction, Unik founder and chief executive Carlota Planas will join Wasserman as vice president of global women’s football. A licensed FIFA agent, Planas will remain based in Barcelona and report to Richard Motzkin, Wasserman’s executive vice president and managing executive of global soccer. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Spanish and International Players Join Wasserman’s Roster

Founded in 2020, Unik was one of the first Spain-based agencies dedicated exclusively to women’s football and led by a female founder. The agency provides full-service representation, including contract negotiations and commercial partnerships. Its client roster includes Spanish internationals Claudia Pina, Mariona Caldentey, Cata Coll, Lola Gallardo, Martina Fernández and Cristina Martín-Prieto, as well as Argentina’s Estefanía Banini and Mexico international Aylín Aviléz.

All 40 Unik clients will transition to Wasserman’s global roster, joining a list of high-profile women’s footballers that already includes Alex Morgan, Alessia Russo, Lindsey Heaps, Naomi Girma, Sophia Wilson and Mallory Swanson.

cquisition Builds on Wasserman’s Recent Global Growth

The acquisition marks Wasserman’s latest move in women’s football following its purchase of UK-based Volante Sports in 2024, which brought Volante director Luca Russo into the company as vice president for women’s football in Europe. These investments build on the 2019 launch of The Collective, Wasserman’s initiative aimed at strengthening commercial and professional opportunities for women across sport, music and entertainment.

Wasserman executives described Spain as a natural next step for international growth, citing the country’s rising prominence in women’s football. With agencies now operating across Spain, the UK and Belgium, the company believes it is well positioned to drive greater commercial value and global opportunities for female players in the years ahead.
