Birmingham City Women Football Club is seeking a dedicated Academy Therapist to provide medical care and support for the U10-U14 players within our academy. As a values-based club that prioritises the development of its people, this role requires someone passionate about youth development and committed to enhancing the player experience. You will play a vital part in promoting a positive learning environment alongside the coaching team and broader academy staff.
This position offers flexibility, with working hours primarily on Monday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday match days. Additional hours may be required depending on scheduling.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Attend all training sessions and match days for the U10-U14 academy teams.
- Provide comprehensive medical care to all academy players, ensuring a high standard of treatment.
- Conduct clinical assessments, accurate diagnoses, and injury management for players.
- Guide and advise the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) on players’ injury status and recovery.
- Provide education and information to players, parents, and staff around key areas such as FA Concussion Guidelines.
- Collaborate with coaches, players, and parents to develop rehabilitation plans and facilitate safe return-to-play protocols.
- Ensure timely and accurate medical and patient record-keeping, maintaining confidentiality and player dignity at all times.
- Participate in clinical audits and stay updated with CPD as required by clinical governance bodies.
- Support the referral process for players who require additional medical interventions or treatments.
What we’re looking for in you:
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Sports Therapy (or related field).
- FA Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) or above.
- FA Safeguarding Children Certificate.
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
- Valid certificate of membership and insurance with a relevant governing body.
Desirable Qualifications
- Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMiFF) or higher.
- Master’s Degree in Sports Therapy, Rehabilitation, or a related field.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with young athletes and treating sports injuries.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver rehabilitation and prehabilitation programs.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially in engaging with young athletes and creating a meaningful, enjoyable learning environment.

Terms of Appointment
- Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, with pro-rata holiday entitlement.
- Applicants must hold a full, clean driving licence and be eligible to live and work in the UK.
- Subject to an enhanced DBS check and medical clearance.
