Job Description

Role Purpose

To lead fun, inclusive football sessions for adult women of mixed abilities. The coach will focus on basic skill development, enjoyment, and confidence-building in a non-judgemental, welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

Session Delivery

  • Plan and deliver weekly 60 minute recreational training sessions
  • Deliver sessions suitable for beginners, returners, and mixed-ability players
  • Promote participation, confidence, and enjoyment over competition
  • Use inclusive coaching techniques and adjust for different ability levels

Player Support

  • Foster a supportive, safe space for women to try football at their own pace
  • Help players progress gradually toward 5-a-side, 7-a-side or 11-a-side games (if desired)
  • Signpost interested players to other club opportunities (e.g. Just Play, league teams)
  • Respond to individual needs or barriers to engagement with sensitivity

Club Contribution

  • Share basic feedback with club leads
  • Help promote the session through WhatsApp, socials, or flyers (optional)
  • Contribute to development reviews and CPD sessions if possible

Essential Requirements

  • FA Introduction to Coaching Football / Level 1 (minimum to be paid) or Playmaker (voluntary)
  • FA Safeguarding & First Aid certifications (or willing to gain with club support)
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Passionate about making football accessible for women of all backgrounds

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience working with adult beginners or women’s recreational sport
  • Adaptable and empathetic coaching style
  • Familiarity with inclusive coaching practices
  • Comfortable leading solo or co-coaching with volunteers

Time Commitment

  • 1 session per week (60mins)
  • Optional: CPD workshops, club check-ins
